Brush off your Spanish, because Alex Cuba’s “Dividido” will have you singing along in no time. Cuba, nee Alexis Puentes, is a Cuban-Canadian singer-songwriter. He’s netted two Juno Awards for World Music Album of the Year: in 2006,
for Humo de Tabaco, and in 2008 for his second album, Agua del Pozo. In
2010, he won the Latin Grammy for Best New Artist. His 2015 album,
Healer, earned him a Latin Grammy Award for Best Singer-Songwriter Album
and a Grammy Award nomination for Best Latin Pop Album.
His full-length album will be released in September of 2019. But we get a sneak peek with“Dividido” featuring Silvana Estrada, a young, talented singer from Mexico. In “Dividido,” Cuba and Silvana trade harmonies in this springy and winsome plea for togetherness. With Cuba and Estrada at the helm, it makes it seem like peace might even be possible. (And fear not — this is a lyric video for those of you who, like me, need to read along.)
