Ah, love. The universal language? Not quite. But you know what is? A pedal steel guitar. Norwegian country artist Dag Erik Oksvold takes advantage of classic country sounds to deliver a touching ballad on his debut single “Love You More.” As Oksvold skillfully transcends his baritone into an angelic falsetto, it almost seems like he and the pedal steel are competing to see who can sound the most sincere — who, in fact, can love the object of his affection more. As for Oksvold, he gets the best of both worlds working as a property manager by day and as a musician by night. Oksvold is a multi-instrumentalist who has played drums in many TV shows, including backing Bobby Bare in the Norwegian show Songcontes.
Oksvold describe the song as a “Radio-friendly and slow classic country song. Nice harmonies with a vintage and at the same time modern sound. Lyrics inspired by the classic ‘heartbreak’ country artists similar to Vince Gill, Jim Reeves, Buck Owens.”
And he had a stacked band for “Love You More,” including Grande Ole Opry backing band members Gary Carter on steel guitar and Deanie Richardson on fiddle.
