PREMIERE: Andrea Magee Sources Irish Heritage For Folk-Pop “Normal People”

Delivered with her rich soulful voice, Andrea Magee’s upcoming 2022 album Belfast Girl demonstrates her growing confidence and insight, while also honoring her rich heritage. A gorgeous contradiction—Andrea is exuberant, passionate, vulnerable, and sensitive—but also tough, tenacious, and compelling. Her exceptionally personal bond with her fans, her home country, and her music, fuels her life and career. She effortlessly travels between country, blues, and pop/rock and keeps audiences completely captivated at every show. Magee’s infectious music lyrically expresses abundant love and empathy.

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, traditional Irish folk songs inspired her writing style, anchored by emotional pulse and tribal rhythm. Moving to the United States in 2016 with British music collaborator Ben Jones, they formed powerhouse musical duo Beat Root Revival. While touring globally with the likes of Brian Wilson, Jeff Bridges, Jonathan Jackson, and Brian Setzer, Andrea’s artistic voice was honed to perfection.

The pulsing beat on “Normal People” draws you in instantly, a primeval feeling that mimics the beat of a heart or the crashing of the ocean. Magee calls on more modern R&B stylings to draw you in further, creating a song about anxiety that goes down smoothly.

“Normal People is a song about vulnerability and connection to yourself and others,” Magee writes. “For me, my relationships and connections play such a big impact on who I am today and who I am becoming. With this song I acknowledge my fears and encourage my willingness change and grow.”
