HEY! LISTEN: Tucker Riggleman Fires Away On Himself in “Shotgun”

Tucker Riggleman and the Cheap Dates are at it again, boasting that satisfying blend of punk beats, singer-songwriter confessions, and Americana warmth. “Shotgun” is as catchy as they come, even as Riggleman’s vulnerability catches your heart.

“‘Shotgun’ is a song full of metaphors about mental health and self-image struggles. We tend to be our own worst critics, and it can be easy to lose those ‘stars in our eyes,’ especially in this business,” Riggleman explains.

“Whenever I feel overwhelmed or lose confidence, I always try to re-center on what is really important here: making music that I love with the people that I love. That’s really what it’s all about. It’s easy to get lost constantly measuring yourself against others, but at the end of the day I’m writing these songs for myself — as both a form of therapy and a way to hold myself accountable. When other folks enjoy it, well that’s just the cherry on top.”

“Shotgun” is the latest single off Tucker Riggleman and the Cheap Dates’ upcoming album, Restless Spirit, out on February 17, 2024 via WarHen Records. You can pre-order the vinyl here and stream the single on your favorite service here.
