Whitney Fenimore has graced us with new music with “Punching Bag.” Fenimore, whom I interviewed for the Rainbow Rodeo podcast after the release of her tender EP Leaving Ashwood, has a moment of harsh realization on her latest song.
In “Punching Bag”, Fenimore explores the complexities of relationships, self-awareness, and personal growth. The song delves into the universal experience of not always being able to reciprocate the support and love we receive from our partners, and the internal struggle to confront and overcome our own emotional baggage. Fenimore’s poignant lyrics and catchy melodies create a moving musical journey that speaks to the heart and soul.
Fenimore and Addison Agen teamed up with producers Will Honaker and Ross McReyonolds (Josie Dunne, Jess Nolan, Bre Kennedy, Katie Pruitt) for this moody indie folk track.
“I’m sure a lot of us have moments in our lives when we realize we’re leaning too heavily on the ones we love,” says Fenimore. “This song is a reminder to take a step back, reflect, and be there for our partners as they are for us. It’s about growth and learning to carry our own emotional baggage.”
