Whimsical New Orleans Duo Introduce Themselves on Meet The Lostines

Songwriters Casey Jane Reece-Kaigler and Camille Wind Weatherford relocated from Oregon to New Orleans and quickly settled into a lush creative community, connecting with artists like Sam Doores of The Deslondes, Riley Downing, Pat Reedy and many more.Their debut full-length is a vibrant celebration of that collaborative spirit. Co-produced by Doores, Ross Farbe, and The Lostines, the album features contributions from some of the brightest stars emerging from New Orleans’ burgeoning Americana-verse like Skyway Man, Gina Leslie, and more.

There’s rarely a melody across the record which Casey Jane and Camille don’t sing together, stacking their lush harmonies against a backdrop of baritone guitar, spring reverb, orchestral strings, Cajun fiddle, upright piano, and Theremin. Meet The Lostines travels the spaces between genres; swampland meets sock hop; golden-age rock & roll meets old-school country; timeless American roots music drops its anchor and climbs skyward, finding some balance between the earthy and the otherworldly.

On this first glimpse of the album, “Full Moon Night” demonstrates The Lostines’ timeless quality. The pair’s vocal synergy calls to mind ’60s girl groups — and the crackling chemistry between them certainly makes it sound like there are more than two singers on the recording. While the subject matter and wistful melody feel like something out of time, the keys give the song a contemporary feel that is both jarring and just right.

The Lostines fit perfectly on the roster for Gar Hole Records, which has a knack for featuring artists who are rooted in the traditional but subtly push the envelope.

Meet the Lostines will be out on April 26th, 2024, through Gar Hole Records.
