WATCH THIS: Will Moseley Takes Breakups In Stride on “Everything But Me”

There’s a reason Will Mosely got as far as he did in American Idol. The season 22 runner-up has a big voice that’s perfect for country music, and his new song “Everything But Me” shows he’s got the sense of humor to match. Moseley was inspired to write “Everything But Me” after watching friends go through relationship troubles.  It’s a classic country song with a Jimmy Buffett-esque style about going through a rough breakup but taking on a slightly sarcastic viewpoint of the situation.  Moseley singes, “I bought a house with a big backyard / Fancy clothes and a brand new car / When she left she took everything she pleased / Let me tell you she wanted everything but me.” Below, Moseley took a minute to tell us about the music that inspires him.

Who are some of your musical influences?

Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Zac Brown

Name a perfect song and tell us why you feel that way.

“The Old Violin” by Johnny Paycheck to me is the perfect song. It’s a musically simple song and not flashy yet delivers a heartfelt story in 3 minutes.

Who would you love to collaborate with? Why?

That would have to be Zac Brown as he has offered me the biggest opportunities by having me open some shows for him. I would love to continue to nurture that relationship as I grow as an artist.

Do you play covers at your shows? Why or Why not?

I love playing covers at shows because it gives the audience the opportunity to hear some of the songs that influence me and it gives them a chance to hear my take on the songs.
