When you take the catchy riffs of early Lumineers and the earnestness of Gaslight Anthem, you’ve got The Weather Wild’s “Oh My God.”
Even with the intensity of their performance, the Weather Wild is in it for the fun of it. “We toss around labels like “Alt-Country” and “Indie Country” when forced to define
our sound, but those ones don’t really cover it,” notes frontman Nolan Jodes. “We’re
just a fun band making music with some twang – trying to show people who we are.”
Though The Weather Wild have only been playing together about a year, but have managed to gain
some notable momentum in that short time – selling out shows, booking festivals, and playing alongside acts like Kalle Matteson, Michigan Rattlers and Elliot Brood.
Jodes explains that “Oh My God” was inspired by his work as a paramedic. “It’s really about a patient I encountered during…having a really tough time and during a moment of clarity pleaded for someone to give her the strength to fight again – to help get through this. That stuck with me” explains Jodes. “We all need a little help sometime, we all need someone to listen.”
