But the song is by no means frenetic. Rather, it exudes a methodical ’90s cool that evokes the Pixies’ strong pop hooks and Sonic Youth’s distant detachment. That may be in large part to New York power-pop veteran Michael Shelley holding things down on bass, with Juniper Shelley’s crystal clear vocals cutting through the heavy groove.
Juniper keeps the information about themselves pretty succinct on their website, but here’s to new music from one of the few bands making the ’90s revival worthwhile.
