PREMIERE: Helene Cronin Considers “Maybe New Mexico”

Texas-bred singer/songwriter Helene Cronin describes herself as a “story-singer,” and her new song “Maybe New Mexico” contains more in three verses than most pack into an album. Cronin is on a mission to bring to life stories and ideas that resonate with genuine emotion and, in their wake, impart lessons that her listeners can absorb within their own life. It’s a direction and determination she’s pursued over the course of her career, and for that matter, most of her own life as well. It’s flourished and been nourished ever since she borrowed her brother’s guitar and taught herself how to play.

“New Mexico is called the ‘Land of Enchantment’ for a reason,” Cronin explains. “Wild vistas and scrub-brush landscapes make it feel like the perfect place to get lost for awhile and try to forget about someone. The town names evoke loneliness, adobe, sage and desert colors. ‘Maybe New Mexico can help me let you go,’ the song wistfully hopes.”

“Maybe New Mexico” will be available on streaming everywhere tomorrow, October 25th. The album Maybe Next Mexico is due out in March 2025.
