Adobe & Teardrops favorite Tucker Riggleman has a new track out, and it’s an interesting shift from his most recent work. For the past few years, Riggleman has turned to a harsher sound, spleen-filled rock that lives somewhere between garage and punk. On “Virtue,” Riggleman and the Cheap Dates nod to Riggleman’s early Americana output like Prison Book Club. If you like your existentialism with a side of twang, turn this one up.
The band once again turned to Grammy-nominated producer Duane Lundy (Sunday Valley, Ringo Starr, Ian Noe) to track and mix the song, with Justin Perkins (The Replacements) handling the mastering (both worked on the band’s 2021 debut LP Alive and Dying Fast).
The song is a warning sign for the rising darkness that we all experience from time to time, be it in the form of addiction, depression, self-doubt, or some other negative force. Riggleman’s narrator openly acknowledges the danger while alerting those around him that things could get worse before they get better.
