You know that feeling after the holidays where you’re sad because you have to return to real life? West Virginia’s Mink’s Miracle Medicine knows the feeling all too well and give it its own gorgeous waltz on “Christmas Is Over.”
“I wrote the song a few years ago after the holiday season was over,” explains singer Melissa Wright. “I was left sitting alone with an empty room, empty boxes, and no friends and family around. I wanted to paint the drop from joy to sadness that happens so quickly after celebrations. It’s all over now, it’s never coming back in the same way ever again.”
Mink’s Miracle Medicine is a songwriting collaboration between Melissa Wright and Daniel Zezeski, who formed the project in 2013. They have released three full-length albums under the name: House of Candles (2017), Pyramid Theories (2018), and Thumbs Up Angel (2020).
The digital-only single is the debut of a series of singles in collaboration with fellow West Virginia artist and producer Chance McCoy.
